In accordance with new mandatory bird registration legislation, all bird keepers, including those who keep birds as pets must register their birds before the deadline of 1st October 2024. 🐓
Information must be provided regarding keepers contact details, the location of the birds, and the birds themselves. 🕊️
The new regulations are intended to help to protect public and avian health, and to assist in managing disease outbreaks like bird flu.
The APHA (Animal and Plant Health Agency) will be responsible for registering bird keepers.
NOTE: Caged pet birds kept entirely inside a domestic property, such as parrots, budgerigars and canaries, are not affected by the new registration requirements. 🦜
