Michelle Moggridge

Dr Michelle Moggridge – MA VetMB GPCertSAS MRCVS Head Veterinary Surgeon and Practice Owner

I qualified from Cambridge University in 1994, and have since worked in mixed practice and referral centres before coming to join Burghley Veterinary Centre in 2004. I took over the practice in 2006.

What I love about the practice is pushing the boundaries and investing in all the latest technology and newest clinical and technological advances to ensure we provide the very best and latest standards of medicine and care for all our lovely patients. I particularly enjoy surgery, and completed my GP certificate in small animal surgery from 2007-2009.

I have a strong focus on pain management and anaesthesia, and to the end brought the therapeutic K-Laser to the practice in 2016, being the first in the locality to have such an effective and non-invasive complementary therapy.

I also trained in Veterinary Acupuncture, completing my certificate in 2001. I have been successfully practicing Acupuncture ever since, and have enjoyed utilising acupuncture as part of my multi modal approach to pain management. It is incredibly rewarding to see the improvements in patients QOL which can be provided using acupuncture alongside other therapies.

Having a very inquisitive mind, I also enjoy getting involved in more complex medical cases, and enjoy conferring with our colleagues at referral practices to advance my own knowledge and implement new techniques and treatments in first opinion practice.

I have a variety of pets living with me at home, including several dogs ranging in size from a Chihuahua to a Great Dane, several cats, some quail, guinea foul and 6 chickens, plus our much loved Rooster Zebedee. All of my cats and dogs have chosen me as their owner, and have come to me through our work with Three Counties Dog Rescue!

For the past 3 years he has been the lead surgeon for a large group taking surgical referrals from the other clinics within the group. He has attended many international congresses and courses to be up to speed with the most recent techniques and has trained with some of the best surgeons in the field .
He enjoys all aspects of soft tissue and orthopedics, but has a special interest in minimally invasive surgery, BOAS (brachycephalic obstructive airway syndrome) and traumatology.
He has a certificate in Advanced Veterinary Surgery and is an Advanced Practitioner in small animal surgery

Dr Claudia Rooke BSc BA VetMB MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon

After graduating in Biology from the University of Bristol, I went on to study Veterinary Medicine at the University of Cambridge. Following Vet school, I spent some time working in a veterinary laboratory and have since developed particular interests in pathology, surgery and diagnostic imaging. I have always loved being around animals and I take great satisfaction in helping our patients live happy, healthy lives.

Outside of work, I enjoy socialising with friends, taking part in pub quizzes, and exploring new places.

Dr Charlotte Wragg BSc BVetMed MRCVS – Veterinary Surgeon

I graduated from the Royal Veterinary College in London in 2025 and have been at Burghley vets ever since.
I was born in Aberdeen and knew from a young age that I wanted to be a vet. It was growing up with my family’s boxer dog, Archie, that motivated me to apply to veterinary school and taught me how special the bond between animals and their human families can be.
In my free time, I enjoy keeping active and travelling.

Leah Elliott – Head Veterinary Nurse

I have been part of the veterinary profession since the age of 17 and I bring a wealth of experience and enthusiasm to my role as Head Nurse. I particularly enjoy running nurse consultations, supporting my colleagues, and ensuring the team works happily and to the best of its abilities.

At home, I have a lively rescue Labrador-German Shepherd cross from a local rescue centre who keeps my husband I on our toes! I am also a proud mum of three adult children and recently became a Nanny – a role I absolutely cherish.

In my spare time, I enjoy walking, cycling and going for rides with my husband on his motorbike.

Jodie Walton RVN Head Nurse
Jodie Walton – Registered Veterinary Nurse
I have worked in the industry for 13 years after getting my first job in a veterinary practice at 17 years old. I have been a qualified nurse now for 9 years and I love all aspects of the role.

I now work part time as I have 3 young children at home as well as my two little chihuahuas to look after. I have a huge passion for horses and horse riding so if I have any spare time then this is what I love to do!

Lauren Allen – Student Veterinary Nurse

I swapped teeth for tails after six years as a dental nurse and haven’t looked back since. I’ve always dreamed of working with animals, and now I get to spend my days caring for them – what could be better?
I have a big soft spot for inpatient care and love getting to know each of our patients (and sneaking in a few extra cuddles when I can!). I also love learning about and caring for the injured wildlife we get brought into the practice. At home, I’m ruled by my two dogs – an Alaskan Malamute called Monroe and a German Shepherd cross called Akira who I rescued from Cyprus.
When I’m not at the practice, you’ll probably find me watching Harry Potter for the hundredth time or helping out at Three Counties Dog Rescue!

Katy Carter – Practice Manager

Animals have been a lifelong passion of mine – I’ve spent my life surrounded by them, learning from them and caring for them. From a young age, I’ve owned horses and discovered the joy and responsibility that comes with animal care. Today, I share my life with a whole menagerie of pets, each with their own unique personalities.
I love not only spending time with animals but also managing the behind-the-scenes administrative work in the practice that helps to keep everything running smoothly.

Lorraine Bunning – Receptionist

I’m a part-time receptionist and absolutely love being part of the wonderful Burghley team (and meeting all the adorable patients!) at our clinics in Stamford and Deeping. Before swapping classrooms for the reception desk, I spent many happy years as a primary school teacher – so, I’m well practised in handling noise, mess and the occasional bit of mischief!

I live in a small village near Stamford with my husband and our rescue cocker spaniel who we adopted from Three Counties Dog Rescue. I’m a proud mum of two and a doting Nana to two gorgeous grandchildren. As my son and his family live in Cornwall, I’m happy for any excuse to travel south for a seaside visit!
